Viswakarma Community always had an inseparable connection to spirituality which is a matter of elation and pride.
Viswakarma is not a name of a caste. The Vedas refer Viswakarmas as Poushya Brahmans, which means a person with high creativity. Though Viswa Brahmans / Poushya Brahmans were people with creativity and were born in all castes and races, they were identified to be belonging to a separate caste after caste system arrived to take a firm root in the Indian society.
Vedas claim that a God by name, Viswakarma created five Prajapatis from his five faces. Sathyojam, Vaamadhevam, Agoram, Eesaanam and Oortham were the five Prajapatis. They were also called Manu, Maya, Dvashta, Silpi and Visagnya respectively.
The Vedas go on to explicitly claim that Silpi Viswakarma was responsible for creating the chariot for Gods and Dvashta Viswakarma was accredited to have created ancient missiles.
In time, these impeccable creators were classified to be belonging to a separate community.
